Hasmik Avetisyan was born in Yerevan. She studied at the School of Art after Hakob Kojoyan (1976-1978), and afterwards at Yerevan College of Fine Arts after P. Terlemezyan (1978-1982) and at Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts 1984-1989.

She has been a member of the Artists' Union of Armenia since 2002.

Hasmik Avetisyan's works are displayed at a number of museums and in private collections both in Armenia and abroad.
